Our Team

The team you will find here is second to none. Our doctors are incredibly talented, experienced, and diverse in their skill sets. We have nine veterinarians who practice medicine here at an uncommonly high level. We focus on continuous growth – we believe that is the only way to truly deliver on our audacious belief: that the love you bare for your pet is deserving of the highest medical standards that exist.

Dr. Andrew Weitzman  —  Medical Director

Dr. Andrew Weitzman was born and grew up on Long Island and upstate New York. He received his Bachelor's of Science degree from Union College in Schenectady, New York in 1981. Following several years of working with horses at Saratoga race tracks, he went to the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University where he received his DVM in 1987. After graduation, he did a fourteen month internship at Angell Memorial Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. After five years in private practice, he purchased Acorn Animal Hospital in 1994. He has overseen the growth of the practice from a very small single doctor practice to the large multi-doctor practice it is today. He enjoys all aspects of medicine and has special interest in surgery including orthopedics and ultrasound. Dr. Weitzman lives in Norfolk with his wife, Dr. Martha Bugbee, and three children. Also living with them are three dogs and two cats.

Bollen

Dr. Tanya Bollen   —  Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Tanya Bollen was born in Cape Town, South Africa, where she enjoyed the company of a series of well-loved cats, dogs, rabbits, and tortoises. At the age of 11, she moved with her family to Canada. She graduated from the University of Guelph’s Veterinary School, and joined a busy practice in Toronto where she worked emergency shifts and honed her diagnostic skills. After several years, she moved to Brooklyn, NY to work at an upscale practice on the Upper West Side where her clients included the pets of Conan O’Brian and other television personalities. It was here that Dr. Bollen was interviewed for Good Housekeeping magazine (July 2000 issue). After her marriage in 2001, she moved to the Boston area and has worked at a number of practices before joining Acorn Animal Hospital in 2015. Dr. Bollen has a loyal clientele who value her expert diagnostics, successful treatment plans, and sensitive manner. She lives with her family in Natick and enjoys reading, birdwatching, spinning, yoga, hiking, and baking fresh challah bread.

Dr. Martha Bugbee  —  Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Martha Bugbee grew up in Wilbraham, Massachusetts and attended the University of Vermont as an undergraduate. She graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor's of Science in Animal Science. She then went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1990. After graduation she completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Since completion of her internship, she has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery, joining the staff at Acorn Animal Hospital in 2001. She lives in Norfolk, MA with her husband Dr. Andrew Weitzman and their 3 children, 3 dogs and 2 cats. In Dr. Bugbee's free time, she enjoys running, horseback riding and skiing with her family.

Dr. Tara Eaton  —  Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Tara Eaton joined Acorn Animal Hospital in 2014. Born and raised in Massachusetts, she received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. In search of a warmer climate, she attended veterinary school at North Carolina State University, and earned her doctorate in 2005. She continued her training at Tufts University, Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, where she completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Eaton then moved back to western Massachusetts and spent the following 8 years working as an emergency veterinarian at a very busy 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital where she was responsible for managing complex critical-care, medicine and surgical cases in the ICU in addition to treating the variety of patients that presented to the emergency service. In 2014 she returned to the Franklin area where she happily resides with her family and young cat, Rosie. Dr. Eaton enjoys music, hiking, working in the yard, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Julieanne Pinel —  Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Julieanne Pinel joined the Acorn Animal Hospital staff in July of 2008. A Massachusetts native, she received her undergraduate degree from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire. After working several years in vaccine research for Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, she went on to earn her DVM from Iowa State University in 2002. She completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Veterinary Specialists of Connecticut, where she stayed on as an associate veterinarian until July of 2008.

Dr. Violin —  Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Violin joined Acorn Animal Hospital in 2011. She grew up in Brookline, MA and received her undergraduate degree from Middlebury College in Vermont. She continued her education at the University of Pennsylvania, receiving her veterinary degree in 2004. After completing an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, she spent six years in private practice in Danvers, MA. Dr. Violin has a dog and three young children. In her spare time she enjoys horses, hiking, cooking and home renovation.

Dr. Leslie Marci —  Associate Veterinarian

Leslie Marci grew up out side of Philadelphia PA, and graduated college from University of Delaware with a Bachelors of Science Degree with Distinction for her poultry research. She attended University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1991. She worked as an internist and veterinary surgeon in Pennsylvania until her family moved to Massachusetts in 2001. Currently Dr Marci's interests are still surgery, as well as internal medicine and dentistry. Dr. Marci enjoys skiing, hiking, watching her 4 kids play sports and running with her husband Pete. She was the recent President of her town's Education Foundation, and currently is Vice President of her town's Athletic Booster Club. Their extended family includes a rescue dog named Sandy, 4 active cats, and an occasional litter of kittens that need foster care!

Dr. Hannah Holmes —  Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Hannah Holmes grew up in upstate New York. She attended Cornell University and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Animal Sciences. She then went on to attend Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine. During her time at Cornell she completed a Master's of Science in stem cell research. After graduation she went on to practice at an emergency clinic in Buffalo, NY. In 2017 she moved to Massachusetts to practice small animal medicine and surgery. In Dr. Holmes' free time she enjoys horseback riding, baking, and playing with her cats.
